    I took a chance on this because I am a huge fan of Van Gogh and this book is cheap enough that it wouldn't really matter if it was poor quality. I am amazed to find that it is initially a comprehensive look at Vincent's life and times and then an excellent gallery of his work. I was particularly pleased with the amount of his drawings used throughout the book, I never understand why his superb draughtsmanship is usually overlooked. Recently I have considered spending £25 on a book of Van Gogh's drawings and don't feel I need to now I have this. And the main point of the book - the paintings, are reproduced in excellent colour and clarity, most of them are sharp enough that you can zoom in and see every brush stroke, which if your a budding painter like me is in valuable.
